Nucor-LMP, Inc., a division of the nation's largest steel and steel products manufacturer and largest recycler is seeking to assemble a hiring pool of qualified applicants for entry level jobs in Shipping.  We are looking for candidates who are willing to work any shift in a drug free environment.  Most positions in our plant require moderate to heavy lifting and can be physically demanding including working in extreme temperatures. Other duties may include operating forklifts and other mobile equipment. BASIC FUNCTION: A Shipper’s main responsibility is to safely load customer product onto trucks. They also unload trucks, help transfer material throughout the plant, stage material for the next day, monitor product quality prior to loading, and other tasks as needed. Teamwork is crucial to success.  Hours are based on business conditions and customer demands, and will be adjusted accordingly.  Short notice overtime is a possibility, along with weekend and shift work. This person will be responsible for product quality, housekeeping and care of the equipment being used.  Forklift and crane operation is required.

Job Requirements



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Able to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, scanners, hand tools and other equipment

  2. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations



SELECTION CRITERIA 

  1. Strong commitment to personal safety and the safety of co-workers
  2. Demonstrated ability to work well, contribute and communicate effectively in a team environment

  3. Ability to operate all shipping equipment  and hand tools

  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with other teammates

  5. Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

  6. Excellent organization and time management skills

  7. Demonstrated ability to focus on product quality and attention to details

  8. Proficiency in utilizing computer resources to maximize effectiveness and efficiency

PREFFERENCES

  1. Previous experience in steel or manufacturing related industry

  2. Previous  experience loading trucks and interacting with truck drivers

  3. Willing and able to move into a production job in a reasonable time frame
