Division:  Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa

The role of the Environmental Electrical Technician is to provide electrical maintenance support to the Environmental Team of a steel plate manufacturer.  Job duties include: Primary responsibility for the radiation detection systems while serving as an assistant Radiation Safety Officer; Coordinate and maintain water systems and assist with the baghouse including the melt shop emission control system;  Coordination with melt shop, roll mill and CTL operations along with the maintenance department; Water treatment chemicals/hazardous waste handling; Maintain/repair/replace: pumps, motors, filters, cooling towers, valves, clarifiers, couplings, bearing/seals and other equipment; Maintain/repair/replace: fans, screw conveyors, poppet valves, rotary air locks, bucket elevator and other equipment; PLC and HMI computer operations; Implement and perform preventive/predictive maintenance program; Coordinate Safety and housekeeping; Serve as an alternate emergency coordinator under HAZWOPER; Ability to complete training to conduct daily readings for visual emissions. Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications include:

  • Three years experience as an industrial electrician
  • A relevant technical or engineering degree may be accepted in lieu of experience

Preference shall be given to candidates who possess:

  • Two year degree in electronics, four year engineering degree or equivalent military experience
  • Experience in Industrial Mechanics
  • Experience in HMI programming, Ladder Logic, WonderWare and PLC automation
  • Experience in Rosemount wireless networks
  • Experience working in a steel manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of Automation technologies
  • Demonstrated understanding of hydraulic/mechanical maintenance
