American Buildings Company a division of Nucor, the nation’s largest steel and steel products manufacturer and largest recycler is seeking to hire a Roll Form Operator for our Panel Line in our pre-engineered steel buildings production facility in La Crosse, VA. This position is responsible for operating a roll forming machine to manufacture panels and components to the specifications in the print within the quality standards set by the company while following prescribed safety rules and communicating suggestions.  We are looking for dedicated teammates that will help to promote the company’s mission statement to take care of our customers, make safety their priority and work in a drug-free environment.


  • Set up and operate console controller roll mill equipment components in accordance with accepted safety practices and quality standards.
  • Operate equipment including cut off saw, air bander, air swagger, shear, barrel crusher, air nail gun.
  • Operate overhead crane and forklift for mill changeovers and material handling.
  • Work from schedules, work orders, prints, verbal and/or written instructions to perform duties.
  • Track and record material usage on paper and in inventory programs to maintain accurate material inventories.
  • Document and submit quality claim forms for reject coil material.
  • Select Proper gauge and color of material to be run and maintain necessary inventory and records.
  • Adjust roll former as necessary to obtain proper configuration of product, change rollers when necessary.
  • Use various measuring instruments such as tape, square and protractor.
  • Bundle orders in preparation for shipment, using skids and steel banding equipment as required
  • Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to proper supervision.
  • Perform preventive maintenance operations, minor repairs to equipment and work with Maintenance Personnel on major repairs.
  • Develop good operational knowledge of equipment to prevent delays and maintain quantity/quality standards.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. 
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintaining high quality standards.

Job Requirements


  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
  • Experience in machine operation in an industrial manufacturing setting.


  • Certification in an Advance Manufacturing Technology or comparable education.
  • Previous experience utilizing computers in a production environment.


  • Prior experience in a similar position.
