Division:  American Buildings-Atlantic


The role of the Safety & Environmental Coordinator (SEC) is to lead the programs of Safety (primary) and Environmental (shared responsibilities) at the Division. This role will provide related training and maintain all safety, health, accident and worker’s compensation records as well as establish safety policies, monitor OSHA compliance and make recommendations for safety practices/improvements. The SEC will assist in assuring compliance with environmental initiatives, reporting and records retention for the division.  This role will be a contributing and integral member of the company's regional, product group and corporate-wide safety and environmental teams.

  • Lead the Safety & Environmental program for the Division, working with the Divisional Leadership Team to find the best Safe practices and influence the execution of a progressive Environmental & Safety Culture.
  • Work with and provide direction for the Safety and Environmental Committees.
  • Compute and report Injury and Illness Rates and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual EHS reports.
  • Assist in overseeing and maintaining the plant environmental ISO 14001 program.
  • Assist in the management and control of the Environmental Compliance Management System (ECMS/ESS).
  • Work with environmental consultants, Federal, State, Local agencies on all environmental compliance, permitting, reporting, and correspondence.
  • Provide and track all required Safety and Environmental training for employees and contractors.
  • Establish, achieve and submit statistics for corporate Safety and Environmental awards.
  • Coordinate environmentally-related community activities and outreach projects.
  • SDS system maintenance.
  • Facilitate incident investigations.
  • Facilitate in development of “Green Building” program / LEED certification
  • Oversee handling of recycling, and disposal of all waste streams assuring compliance with initiatives and regulations.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and maintain the “Management Of Change” for divisional changes.
  • Engage in Corporate and Group Safety & Environmental discussions and “Best Mark” with other Company Divisions to continually improve our Safety & Environmental culture.

Job Requirements



  • Two years related experience within an industrial setting or a related degree with experience in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal forms
  • Ability to travel on short notice
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.


  • Experience with OSHA VPP
  • OSHA 501 Certification
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Experience in Industrial Hygiene testing, sampling and processing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, State and local safety standards and laws for the manufacturing industry.
