BASIC FUNCTION: The role of Traffic Service Representative (TSR) will be responsible for the coordination and direct management of truck shipments for Nucor Logistics Center Mills.  This position has direct responsibility for locating capacity for all outbound and inbound flatbed truck loads to include non-steel commodities. Responsibilities include ensuring that deliveries occur in an efficient, cost effective, and timely manner.  The TSR must have working knowledge and be familiar with market freight trends and Carrier Point (Nucor’s TMS). He/she having the understanding of customer demand and having the ability to focus on the utilization and maximization of trucks, while meeting customer delivery requirements is essential.  The TSR will work with partner carriers to develop relationships and patterns that meet Nucor customer requirements and work with the Logistics Coordinator on continuous moves that complement movements across the enterprise. He/she will monitor carrier performance and be responsible for noting all infractions. This role, directly and indirectly, supports all actives in the truck operations area to include; working with the Logistics Coordinator on touring freight, identifying potential service failures, freight rate bids, rate negotiations, manual order entry, LC emails, LC dispatch line, and monthly report and analytics. Cross training and knowledge of supporting roles in required and one must be willing to assist in other areas as needed. The standard work days for this position are Monday – Friday, but holidays and weekends will be required on an as needed basis to support the market shifts. A TSR must be willing to work overtime, scheduled and unscheduled, as needed to include holidays and weekends.

Job Requirements


  1. 3 years’ experience in flatbed truck dispatch or logistics roles
  2. Degree in Logistics/Business or equivalent work experience


  1. Excellent attendance and punctuality
  2. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  3. Positive attitude/optimism/enthusiasm
  4. Demonstrated experience working in a fast- paced, multi-tasking environment with attention to detail
  5. Excellent phone etiquette and experience in customer service
  6. Understanding of flatbed truck market, freight cost, and basic freight calculations
  7. Self-motivated, goal oriented, organized, ability to meet deadlines
  8. Experience working in a team environment
  9. Able to take action in solving problems while exhibiting good judgment


  1. Familiar with Carrier Point TMS, DAT, ROSS, SKYBLUE
  2. Understanding of HOS driver rules, CSA/DOT guidelines and regulations
